It’s an NGO that provides education, vocational training, rehabilitation, resettlement, advancement, amelioration, better health, and welfare of the differently abled (lower limb disabled) people.
Back story
Initial Brief :
Designing a self-using mobility device where any lower limb disabled don't have to touch the wet floor with their hands to move.
Observational
Study :
Observational study was done to deeply understand how they use the washroom and the problems they face while using it.
Eight individuals performed the activity out of which four were wheelchair users and the remaining four were Paatla Gadi users.

Final Brief
Designing a self use hygienic and convenient solution to move and use toilet without directly touching the floor with their body.
Lower limb disabled who cannot use their lower limbs at all and use hands to move.

using SAATHI in different ways
This proof of concept demonstrates the functionality of the concept. Multiple iterations, improvements, and feedback were taken into developing this model. User testing was conducted at Apang Manav Mandal to further enhance its effectiveness.

Easy to change direction with minimal effort just by holding the pushing ring in the direction of wheel where you want to take turn.

Need Support
Need some kind of support when trying to stand and move. Some urinates from the door while taking support from there to avoid getting wet and dirty.

unhygienic
Full lower body rests on the wet and unhygienic floor. They often have to touch the washroom floor and the commode.

Difficulty Turning
They face difficulty in turning, shifting positions, and orienting themselves, as well as in pulling themselves up to sit on the commode.

In case of kids using it or steep slope, elders or their friends can help them move around by extending the handles upward and back side.
Taking help from others

Using handles to push yourself up to toilet seats
Users can push themselves up to sit on commode and can extend the handles to get down from commode or to balance their body weight.

You push yourself to go to places using the two handles on each side you can steer yourself right and left by just stopping pushing ring on the side you want to turn on.
Self Use

Put the stopper on. Use the handles to get up to the commode.
